Good news for wrestling fans – TNA will be back on UK TV from April 21.
The wrestling promotion has signed a deal with Freeview channel Spike to broadcast IMPACT episodes and pay-per-views in the UK.
The company’s former home, Challenge TV, which used to air the weekly IMPACT show on Sunday nights, dropped TNA in January. Since then. fans in the UK have only been able to (legally) watch IMPACT and other events on the official app.
But from April 21, IMPACT will be broadcast in the UK on Friday nights, just one day after the episodes first air in the US.
All weekly IMPACT Wrestling shows and pay-per-views (including One Night Only specials) will be available on Spike UK, with TNA Xplosion exclusive to My5.
IMPACT Wrestling president Ed Nordholm said: “Since our acquisition of IMPACT Wrestling, growing the brand in the UK has been one of our most important initiatives. We are thrilled to be partnering with Spike UK to fill this important spot in their programme schedule and look forward to rebuilding our presence in the UK market. As one of the hottest wrestling scenes in the world right now, we look forward to taking an active role in the market, both on television and with live events.”
It’s good news for wrestling fans eager for action outside of WWE. TNA looked like it was in trouble last year, but with this new TV deal, Anthem Sports & Entertainment (which owns Fight Network) in charge, and the return of founder Jeff Jarrett, this could be the fresh start TNA has so sorely needed.
