PRODUCT NEWS: Veebeam HD – Wireless Streaming on your TV
I don’t know about you, but I never watch TV these days.
By that, I don’t mean I don’t watch TV shows – because I do. But I never watch anything live, as it’s broadcast. Like everyone else, I get most of my TV from the BBC iPlayer, 4OD, SeeSaw and… other places.
That means most stuff is watched either on my laptop. In the case of downloaded content, I can get it onto my TV but only after I have dragged what I want to watch onto a USB stick and then put that in the back of my DVD player. It’s not exactly a hardship, but it is a pain in the arse.
Well, with Veebeam HD, my arse will no longer be in pain.
The Veebeam unit allows users to stream to your TV, no matter what the content is, and it sounds fantastic. It connects to your computer (Mac or PCc) wirelessly, and streams up to 1080p for an excellent picture and optical audio output means you can still enjoy surround sound.
Unlike similar gadgets, Veebeam has something called Play To mode, which means that you can stream video to your TV, but carry on using the internet on your laptop – genius! Finally, a tech company which acknowledges that we puny humans can multitask.
Just look at it: it’s like a benevolent Cylon, created for the human race with the sole purpose of helping us watch TV when we want to.
Finally, a laptop to TV with no restrictions. No apps telling you what you can do, no Steve Jobs telling you what you can and can’t watch.
I want one.
