TV: The X Factor USA w/e 04.12.11

It’s getting tough out there.

This week, America has done the decent thing and put at least some of the children to bed. As much as I personally dislike Astro (mostly for not even attempting to sing and generally being an arrogant little prick), he’s a talented little dude and will no doubt go on to do awesome things in his hood. I hear he’s already been offered a deal by three different labels. Go figure. So long as it’s not my hood, knock yourself out, buddy.

Drew comforted by Simon Cowell in The X Factor USA

The other departure, I didn’t see coming – judging by the expression of Mr Cowell’s face, he didn’t either. Thus, Drew goes home. Shame. There are others who should have gone way before her, but we’re kind of down to the last couple of weeks now anyway, so it was only a matter of time, but still. That girl has got a great set of pipes on her. Will she go on to bigger and better things? Hard to tell. If she does, she could probably do OK – if she doesn’t, nobody will notice or care. That’s just they way of the world right now.

Josh Krajcik is leapt on by Nicole ScherzingerMeanwhile, back at the ranch, who have we got left? Well it was a rough week for the Joshster – Dirty Diana on Michael Jackson week? Any of us could have chosen a better song than that for him to do and luckily, he escaped with only minor scars after being physically assaulted by Nicole Scherzinger.

Melanie seems to have calmed down this week. I’m very disappointed as I was ready to see her go into a ketamine frenzy, but it was strictly business all the way. She stands a good chance of winning this show, but it would not be a justified win at all.

Putting inoffensive little Rachel aside for a moment as I believe she has a seat already reserved for her on the bus home next week, why is Marcus even still here? In the UK, he would have been dealt with a long time ago. Has he sung in tune all the way through a song even once? I don’t think so. Unless we at home are being treated to a different version of events to the panel, we’re not hearing the same thing here. Which leaves Chris Rene…

Dude – don’t believe the hype you’re being fed by your mentor. You’re not incredibly brilliant. You are instead so forgettable that I had to go online and look up who was left in the show to finish my piece.

Next week, it will be time for America to show her true colours. See you on the ice…
