TV: The X Factor UK 20.11.11

Continuing my public shame of being addicted to the The X Factor, let’s turn our attention to the homegrown variant.

This week, Craig went home. No big surprise to be honest. He’s good but he ain’t that good. In fact, I would go so far as to say he could make a name for himself in The Swan… or maybe the Kings Arms…

Craig Colton and Gary Barlow in The X Factor 2011

Craig looks sad... confused... hungry?

The big question of the week is why Amelia was in the bottom two when she is clearly going to take home the prize. Whats that? You want some predictions? I hear you:

Next week, Janet will go home. I like her but hellfire she’s dull. Think back over the last few weeks. Remember anything she sang? No. Me neither.

The following week, Marcus will go out in a shocker. Why? There’s no need for another chirpy chappy when Olly Murs fills that gap quite nicely. Personally, I’d like to fill the gap on the Northern Line with both of them but there’s no accounting for taste out there.

Which brings us to the final. Little Mix will take third place and go on to totally incredible things (at least for a little while). The second spot will go to Misha B. You can’t duplicate Leona no matter how hard you try – and this week they spent all the ‘crying girl’ votes available, so too bad. Should have saved the tears until the end but I think she needed a lifeline. Shame.

Thus, walking away in a blaze of glory will be Amelia Lily simply because we need somebody to carry a Kelly Clarkson kinda flame over here. Game over.

BUT… mark my words. There is nobody on the show this year who even comes close to matching Rebecca Ferguson for talent and class. Fact. She is better for not having won last year. Fact. Her album is going to a total screamer and she will last a really long time out there. Fact.

I still really miss Laura White from a few years back. Fact.

What has happened to me? Fact.
