As the iPhone 6 gets closer, the Apple rumour mill has kicked it up a gear, with talk of advanced speakers and unbreakable glass all getting a mention.
The latest suggestion is that Apple’s new handset will have a “secret weapon” in the form of haptic feedback better than any other seen to date.
By building in a vibration motor “two or three times as expensive” as the current one, the iPhone 6 will be able to provide different kinds of vibrations through different parts of the device. This will help make games and applications feel more immersive.
This kind of advanced touchability is nothing new. Apple has been interested in the technology for years and it was heavily suggested that the third-gen iPad would have offered the ability to “feel” webpages, but the feature never materialised.
We’ll find out soon enough. The iPhone 6 is expected to be launched in September.
