Stop the hype-train, the final Star Wars trailer’s a beauty.
We’ve been here before. In 1999 Lucasfilm pretty much invented the internet trailer with a little ad for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which enflamed the childhood feelings of a generation, endlessly rewatching on their computers. Light-sabres in the mist. John Williams etc.
Now JJ Abrams is in charge, for Disney-owned Lucasfilm of course.
And hats off to the marketing department for putting out their latest teaser; one of the most beautifully cut trailers you will ever see. The music alone has been making it ‘dusty in the room’ for those watching it on their mobiles or in front of Spectre, at the movies.
And you know what? It doesn’t appear to spoiler the movie. We get little morsels, some wide-shots, a glimpse at some of the key characters. And that final line, “The force. It’s calling you, just let it in.”
I think we just might.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released on December 17th.
