CINEMA: Morris – A Life With Bells On
Morris is yet another biopic, albeit a spoof one, about the life and times of Derecq Twist (Charles Thomas Oldham), a Morris man who just wants to do his own thing.

Mixing elements of Strictly Ballroom and Best In Show, it follows Derecq as he is ostracised by the British Morris hierarchy, moves to America where he meets the toothsome Sonja (Naomie Harris), and returns to his homeland having revitalised his career after a stint with a gay Morris troupe.
A support case of well-known faces (Derek Jacobi, Harriet Walter, Greg Wise, Ian Hart) deliver cod interviews straight to camera but there’s something distinctly amateur about proceedings. The plot is too one dimensional and the film so wants to be liked it’s a bit like an annoying puppy that soon outstays its welcome.
